Rugby World Cup 2023 Guide

The Springboks were crowned World Champions for the fourth time following their 12-11 victory over the All Blacks in the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final.

The single point victory in the final was remarkable in that South Africa had won their quarter-final (vs France) and semi-final (vs England) matches by the same slender margin.

Of the four home unions, England progressed the furthest, finishing in third place with a 26-23 victory over Argentina in the Bronze Final.

Ireland and Wales had finished top of their respective pools, but both came undone in the quarter-finals. Ireland were beaten 28-24 in an epic encounter with the All Blacks, whilst Wales failed to hold off an Argentina fightback that saw the Pumas emerge 29-17 victors.

Scotland failed to progress to the knockout stage after finishing third in a very tough Pool B draw.
